New Project! ICN Is a Partner in the HI2 Valley to Accelerate Renewable Hydrogen Innovation

On February 3rd, the groundbreaking initiative HI2 Valley officially launched, marking a significant step towards establishing a large-scale renewable hydrogen (H2) economy in Austria and connecting Europe. As a proud partner in this ambitious six-year project, the International Cleantech Network is contributing to achieving national and European climate targets, fostering energy independence, and driving the transition to clean energy.

HI2 Valley brings together 48 national and international partners committed to decarbonizing energy-intensive industries. With an investment of €588 million by 2030, the project aims to strengthen Europe’s leadership in hydrogen innovation.

Project overview:

  • 101 MW of new electrolysis plants
  • 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen production per year
  • 17 projects covering the entire H2 value chain
  • Creation of approximately 1,000 jobs

The official kick-off event provided an opportunity to present the project’s vision and objectives. High-level politicians attended the public opening, underlining the strategic importance of HI2 Valley in Europe’s energy transition. ICN actively participated by presenting a communication strategy aimed at fostering awareness and collaboration within the hydrogen ecosystem.

The event concluded with an excursion to a renewable gas field, providing attendees with firsthand insights into the innovative approaches driving the project forward.

HI2 Valley is set to play a pivotal role in advancing Europe’s hydrogen economy, and ICN is excited to contribute to this transformative initiative.

The project is co-funded by the European Union and supported by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership and its members.
