On Monday May 7th, five ICN clusters from Austria (Greentech Cluster), Belgium (TWEED), Denmark (CLEAN), France (Tenerrdis), and Sweden (Sustainable Business Hub) organised the first EC2i matchmaking mission in New York City. This happened in collaboration with Brooklyn-based Urban Future Lab during the Smart Cities week. Since winning the COSME project last year, the ICN partners have been working towards facilitating matchmaking missions for the benefit of European cleantech SMEs wanting to expand their business in the United States and China. During the event, more than 17 companies from the five clusters as well as a number of Finnish companies held B2B talks with legal companies, consultants, and utilities from the American cleantech sector with a clear objective of identifying business opportunities for the European SMEs. The event in New York also demonstrated the benefit of the close collaboration with ICNs key partner in the United States, Urban Future Lab who generously hosted and facilitated the matchmaking event and a networking event with a major Nordic delegation in the evening. The next step for the five ICN members will be a matchmaking mission in Nanjing/Shanghai in China in mid-November 2018 for which SMEs from all ICN clusters are invited to participate.
